What am I up to?

It’s been over a week since the first closure of Dinoland USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In memory, I thought I would share some marquee sketches from the land! I love doing reference sketches like this in a simplified style. I look forward and hope to do more park inspired sketches like this!

Kicking off my last winter quarter with a project- I’m actually really excited about!

I was tasked to create a list of 10 things I like & 10 things I don’t like about Savannah (scroll to see process). I struggled to come up with things I don’t like in this beautiful city. When I had that thought though- it came into my mind- I knew EXACTLY what I didn’t like- These past 4 years, every night when the sun sets, I feel this guilt of having not enjoyed my day/time outside, instead having it spent staring at a screen in my dark dorm room.

The things I like about Savannah though- are the stunning sunsets, palm trees, and most importantly PARKER’S!!! I often get my favorite Parker’s drink and take it back to my room to work away on my projects for hours… just like this one 😆. It has been the spot of so many great memories!!

I was able to capture both elements along with a struggle I had moving to Savannah- which was navigating the city. I was so anxious about it- but now- in my senior year I have marked off all of my favorite places and know all of the streets!

This was a really nice reflection piece for me to start the new year! I also really enjoyed challenging myself with a new coloring style!!

Did all of these concepts in a few hours, from research to a quick grey scale.

I chose to expand on my Lilo and Stitch: The Series concept with these 3. Pulling from the key plot points of the show. I ended up rewatching a few episodes in the process!

Happy with the look of these sketches in communicating the game play and the small details from the show!”

Unnamed Steampunk inspired land, Coast of Carolina Park.

For my sketching final, I revisited a previous project- Coast of Carolina from my Theme Park Master Planning Course. This time we were tasked to make a birds eye view of a theme park land- swipe to see the process!

Through my story: this land was created by the inventor, previous resident of Myrtle Beach, where the park resides. He has traveled for decades around the world- fascinated by vehicles way of transportation old and new. This land features a handful of attractions that allow guest to explore his findings and creations.

I was able to create the line work in an evening and color the following 2 days- Getting faster and faster in development.
